Biography

Fariez Farraj’s love of music began early in life through attentive listening. His first instrument was the tabla, which gave him a strong foundation in rhythm that continues to inform his playing and compositions.

Drawn to the distinctive sound of the oud, he eventually turned his attention to this instrument. After saving enough money to purchase one, he began learning simple melodies, songs, and instrumental pieces. With time and practice, his abilities developed, deepening his connection to Arabic music.

Following years of listening and playing, Farraj began focusing on composition approximately fifteen to twenty years ago. His accumulated musical experience gave him the knowledge and confidence to express his own ideas through original works.

Before social media made it easier to connect with other artists, finding suitable lyrics required considerable effort. He sought out poets whose words conveyed meaningful stories and emotions, then composed music to bring those texts to life. The encouraging response from listeners and professional musicians strengthened his commitment to composing.

The demands of earning a living, together with the expense of recording, sometimes limited his ability to pursue music as fully as he wished. Nevertheless, he remained committed to his work. An important opportunity came when he met talented studio owners and musicians who understood his musical vision and helped shape his compositions into recordings intended for singers across the Arab world.

His work encompasses a variety of regional styles, including Egyptian, Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi, and Gulf musical traditions. This range reflects his appreciation for the diversity of Arabic music and his interest in composing for different voices and audiences.

Farraj reports that he has completed the initial recording and copyright-registration phase for a collection of 36 songs, with plans to offer them to singers for performance and release. This collection marks an important step in a musical journey that continues to grow.

For Fariez Farraj, music remains a lifelong dream and an enduring source of purpose. He continues to pursue that dream with determination, creating new works rooted in his love of Arabic music.
